The secret of capacity! Is there any difference between tea brewed in a large pot and a small pot?

The secret of capacity! Is there any difference between tea brewed in a large pot and a small pot?

Many tea lovers who use purple clay teapots to make tea have questions: Does the capacity of the teapot really affect the taste of the tea?

Yes, with a fixed amount of tea, the taste of the tea brewed will be different when brewing in a large pot or in a small pot. The key is not the quality of the pot or the tea. Want to know the difference in the flavor of tea brewed by different sizes of pots? What is the key to making good tea soup evenly? The editor personally tested it and compared brewing with two purple clay pots of different sizes. Let’s take a look at the results!

This time we brewed 8 grams of mufei tea in a small pot with a capacity of 100cc and a large pot with a capacity of 300cc, with a water temperature of 90°C and a steeping time of 30 seconds. We hired two helpers to conduct a blind test. The tea soup brewed in the small teapot was A, and the tea soup brewed in the large teapot was B. We compared the taste of the tea soup between the two.

# Performance of 8 grams of tea:

[The tea in the small teapot is too strong; the tea in the large teapot is bland and tasteless]

The oolong tea brewed in the Xiaopin pot is quite dark in color and has a rich and high aroma. The two helpers tasted two cups of tea soup, and both thought that the taste of tea soup A (xiaopin pot) was too strong. They feel that although the aroma of the tea is very obvious, the taste is too full, the concentration is high and even slightly bitter, which overwhelms the original flavor of the tea. One of the helpers expressed that he had no intention of drinking another cup because the tea was too strong; the other felt that this concentration was only suitable for tea drinkers who like strong Kung Fu tea, and he did not like it.

(The tea brewed in the small pot is quite dark in color. Although the aroma is high, the tea taste is too strong.)

The two helpers felt that the taste of tea soup B (Dapin Pot) was just the opposite. The aroma was thinner, the tea soup was lighter in color, and the tea taste was lighter. They think that the taste of tea is too weak, it feels like drinking water, and it is difficult to taste the real taste of tea. One helper said that compared to the overly strong tea soup, the lighter taste is more acceptable; however, another helper believed that the aroma, taste and aftertaste of tea soup B were too thin and failed to enjoy the truest expression of oolong tea. Relatively speaking, Tea Soup A is more acceptable.

(The tea soup brewed in a large pot is lighter and lighter in color.)

The opinions of the two helpers are actually very reasonable. If you use teapots with different capacities for a fixed amount of tea, the taste will naturally be different. The reason for the deviation in tea taste is not the quality of the teapot or tea leaves, but the ratio of tea to water . This is also the key point we have repeatedly emphasized. Only by mastering the capacity of the pot and judging the amount of tea needed can you get the true flavor of the tea.

# Capacity brewing performance:

[The taste of the two teas is almost the same]

Taking the capacity of the two teapots just now as an example, the standard amount of tea poured into a 100cc small teapot is about 6-7 grams, while the standard tea amount for a 300cc large teapot is about 20 grams. This is the recommended amount of tea, tea drinkers can adjust it according to their personal taste.

The editor used the same pot and adjusted the appropriate amount of tea according to the capacity of the two. The results showed that the color of tea soup A and tea B was almost the same, and in terms of aroma and tea taste, both helpers said there was nothing special. difference. It can be seen that the ratio of tea to water is the most important criterion that affects the taste of tea soup. Of course, the number of people drinking tea is naturally related to the size of the purple clay pot. It is suitable for 1-2 people to choose a small pot, which can save tea leaves and easily control the proportion; for a large number of people, a large pot is more appropriate, so that more tea soup can be brewed at one time .

(The color of Longjue brewed according to the proportion is orange-yellow, with moderate shade and vivid aftertaste.)

The above is a sharing about the relationship between pot capacity and brewing. The fun of making tea lies in exploring the appropriate proportion of tea and water in the pot and tea leaves. When purchasing a teapot, there is no need to insist on whether only a small pot or a large pot can make good tea. Keep in mind the importance of the proportion of tea and water, so that you can use different pots with ease.
