[What is a rubbing? 】
Rubbing (rubbing, rubbing) refers to the technique of using dye or ink to copy text and patterns on the surface of hard objects onto rice paper. It is an art that integrates epigraphy, archaeology, and aesthetics.

It is generally used to preserve the surface rubbings of patterns and characters on historical relics (such as calligraphy on stone tablets, oracle bones, and bronze vessels). Many inscriptions that have been lost and destroyed have also been handed down due to the craftsmanship of rubbings, such as the "Huashan Temple Stele of Xiyue" in the Han Dynasty, the "Epitaph of Zhang Xuan" in the Northern Wei Dynasty, the "Tianfa Shen Prophecy Stele" in the Eastern Wu Dynasty, and the "Song Tuoshen Cejun Stele" by Liu Gongquan of the Tang Dynasty, etc. All are unique copies.

[How is the ceramic rubbing process completed? 】
Ceramic rubbings are a unique craft of Jingdezhen. Using porcelain as a carrier, the ancient traditional rice paper rubbing patterns are copied onto the surface of tea vessels with cinnabar stipples . The difficulty lies in the need to imitate the stone carving effect of the rubbing pattern with full hand painting, and imitate the mottled ink texture of the rice paper rubbing pattern.

Rubbings are cultural relics with distinctive oriental art characteristics and rich connotation collections. Put rubbings on porcelain and use porcelain painting techniques (underglaze color technology) to reproduce the ancient relics. Every tea lover and pottery lover will appreciate it. Being able to feel the humanistic color of rubbings is the reason for making rubbings.
