The Mengchen teapot originated from the master Hui Mengchen in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. He was famous for his skill in making small teapots, especially his works made with red clay. Pear-shaped pots originated in the Yuan Dynasty and became popular in the Ming Dynasty. The pear-shaped pots of Hui Mengchen's era were particularly exquisite in craftsmanship. Together with Yigong and Siting, they were called "the three unique small red clay pots".

Hui Mengchen not only pays attention to the simple and exquisite plastic art of the pot body, but also pays special attention to the inscription of calligraphy. The calligraphy style of the carvings is elegant and in line with the style of Tang Xian. Judging from historical materials such as "Yangxian Famous Pottery Record" and the unearthed and handed down cultural relics discovered in recent times, one of the main characteristics of Mengchen pots is that their signatures are usually engraved under five or seven-character poems or auspicious words.

Mengchenhu poems usually use an ancient poem line, most of which are five-character or seven-character poems. The seven-character poems are usually written in two lines with the first four and the last three points, and the five-character poems are written in two lines with the first three and the last three, or the first four and the last one minute. Two lines of type are used, with a small amount of four-character characters such as "Master of Landscapes", "Sweet Spring under the Moon", and "White Jade Mountain Residence". The content of the poem mainly combines the artistic conception of drinking tea and is related to self-cultivation. Words such as cool breeze, bright moon, clear spring, fragrance of flowers, white clouds, mountain scenery, flowing water, tea, and wine often appear, with a strong literati flavor.
