【 Ming Dynasty pot making Master Hui Mengchen: the fifteenth generation successor ] - Hui Xiangyun, male, was born in a pottery family in Yixing in 1968. He is the fifteenth generation successor of Hui Mengchen, the master of pot making in the Ming Dynasty. He learned to make pots from his father at an early age, and later received the guidance of He Daohong, a master of Chinese ceramic art. He has a solid foundation, outstanding craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of purple clay. He is called the "folk purple clay master" by collectors. Since the 1990s, people in the industry have been worried about overexploitation of purple sand mineral resources and began to vigorously collect high-quality mineral resources. At that time, they were nicknamed "the man who hides clay" by industry insiders.

Hui Xiangyun says that every time he makes a pot now, he doesn't just do it as he pleases. He has to think about it for a long time before he starts making it. The pots made are often snapped up by collectors. Besides making pots, the teacher also likes to collect old pots. In 1989, he designed and created the "Jade Rhyme Pot". In the same year, this pot was collected by the Taoyuan Museum of Taiwan Province. Later, he was employed as a tutor in pot art creation at Shugu Zisha Factory, No.5 Zisha Factory, and Dingshu Zisha Factory. The "Double Bamboo Pot" designed and created in 1999 is permanently collected by the Hong Kong Tea Ware Museum.

Hui Xiangyun has spent the most energy over the years on continuously collecting information and studying the material selection, workmanship, decoration and inscription of Mengchen pots. He found that the works of his ancestors often featured many small pots, few medium pots, and large pots were the rarest. He was good at preparing a variety of sand-mixed mud. In the later period, he specialized in small cinnabar geometric pots with strange shapes, small sizes, and exquisite craftsmanship. This pot style was the predecessor of the horizontal pot in later generations. The craftsmanship is extremely sophisticated and rhythmic, especially the spout, whether long or short, is straight and straight. The body of the pot is shiny, thin and light, and the lines are round and smooth, which have become the outstanding style features of the Mengchen teapot. He wrote these notes and kept them in his favorites. He gradually thought and digested these skills and integrated them into his own pot art, so as to achieve the purpose of seeking development through inheritance and seeking change through development.
