In recent years, cold brew tea has become a new favorite for summer drinks in Taiwan, challenging the idea that "tea is best enjoyed hot." Do you think it can only be made in tea shops? In fact, you can make delicious cold brew tea at home as well. The process is very simple; you just need to prepare the following tools and ingredients, and anyone can create a refreshing tea to beat the heat!
Preparation:
1 teapot
3 water bottles
Tea divider (spare)
Material:
Honey Orchid Phoenix Dancong Oolong 17g
1.7 liters of cold water
Step:
1. Tea prepartion
Put 17 grams of Honey Orchid Dancong tea into the teapot.
Please note that the recommended tea-to-water ratio is 1:100, meaning 1 gram of tea should be paired with 100 milliliters of water. This ratio can be slightly adjusted according to personal taste, but it should not deviate too much to avoid the cold brew being too bitter or too weak.
2. Wash tea
Add an appropriate amount of cold water to rinse the tea leaves, then pour out the rinse water. The main purpose of this step is to wash away the dust on the surface of the tea leaves, so you don't need too much water; just enough to cover the tea leaves will do.
3. Fill with water
Pour in 1.7 liters of cold water.
4. Refrigerate
Place it in the refrigerator and it is recommended to chill for 4 to 6 hours to allow the tea leaves to fully steep.
The chilling time for steeping depends on the type of tea leaves. Generally, strip-shaped tea leaves (such as Dancong or Bi Luo Chun) require at least 4 hours; while ball-shaped tea leaves (such as Oolong or heavily roasted Tie Guan Yin) need to steep for 6 to 8 hours to fully unfurl and release their flavor.
5. Divide cups
Before drinking, separate the tea leaves to prevent the tea from becoming too strong due to prolonged steeping. You can also package it into regular bottles for easy transport and consumption.
