Jumping knife pattern decoration is an early primitive ceramic technology in China. The so-called jumping knife refers to the regular beating caused by friction and speed when the knife body contacts the high-speed rotating embryo body.

This work looks like a dancer dancing in the sand. The beating traces are smooth and rhythmic. But when you start to use it, the rough and solid texture is very real ~ Teacher Shen has put all kinds of details on the entire purple clay teapot. The jumping knife technique is used to make the whole work smooth and natural. This tests the speed and strength of the craftsman's knife. It must be quite stable so as not to cut through the clay and maintain the balance between virtual and real lines and the density.

[New force] - Shen Wenhui, born in Yixing in 1976, joined the Zisha Arts and Crafts Factory in the 1990s. He was taught by famous experts in the special arts class and learned ceramic modeling design and ceramic technology, as well as ancient Zisha artifacts from past dynasties. After being trained at work, the maturity of purple clay skills has been affirmed and appreciated by many purple clay enthusiasts. His personal works won awards in the Jiangsu Province High-Skilled Talents and Professional Skills Competition. His personal works are collected by Yixing Art Museum, Hong Kong Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, etc., and he has won the gold medal of Shanghai Arts and Crafts Exquisite Association and other honors.
