Young ceramic artist· Master of purple sand pottery carving [Bao Zhiqiang’s disciple ] - Ma Chen, born in Dingshu, Yixing in 1989, is a recommended member of China Zisha Industry Association. Influenced by the Zisha family atmosphere since childhood, he loves calligraphy, painting and modeling creation. In 2008, he was admitted to the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting of Nanjing Normal University. While in school, he studied the creation of arts and crafts pottery, and learned the basics of pottery carving from the sister of the master of purple sand craftsman Hua Jian, the arts and crafts artist Hua Shan. After graduating in 2012, he studied under the apprentice Huang Ziying of the master of purple sand pottery carving Bao Zhiqiang. He learned deeply about pottery carving techniques and purple clay modeling techniques. He was also personally instructed by his master Bao Zhiqiang. The works he produced are deeply loved by pottery enthusiasts and have a certain reputation in the domestic ceramics circle. Well-known, he is one of the best among young ceramic artists.
